EV Bandit guide to practical Model Y cabin upgrades including floor liners, screen protection, phone mounting, and console storage

262,491 Model Ys Through Q3, a 36% Share of U.S. EV Sales. Four Cabin Upgrades for the Car Everyone Is Driving

By EV Bandit | Updated October 13, 2026

The Tesla Model Y sold 262,491 units in the U.S. through the third quarter, a 36.0% share of the EV segment, while the Model 3 sold 106,962, down 31.1% from a year earlier. Those figures come from Electrek's October 12 top-10 list, which credits Kelley Blue Book (Cox Automotive) and reports year-to-date totals. We could not find a second outlet publishing the same table yet, so treat the exact figures as Electrek's reading of KBB's data.

The table

Rank Model YTD 2026 U.S. sales Share Year over year
1 Tesla Model Y 262,491 36.0% -1.0%
2 Tesla Model 3 106,962 14.7% -31.1%
3 Hyundai IONIQ 5 31,112 4.3% -24.3%
4 Toyota bZ 24,944 3.4% +103.4%
5 Chevrolet Equinox EV 18,154 2.5% -65.6%

By our arithmetic, the two Teslas together account for 369,453 units, about half of the top ten's segment share. The Model Y is roughly 2.5 times the Model 3 and more than eight times the IONIQ 5.

When one car is a third of a segment, its owners are the segment's real customer base.

We are not going to read the sales trend for you; the table speaks for itself. What it does mean practically is that a very large number of people spend their days in the same cabin. Here are four things that make that cabin better, with the fitment caveats up front: our Model Y catalog is strongest for 2020-2023 cars, and each listing below states its own years.

1. Floor liners: the daily-wear fix

2020-2023 Model Y all-weather liners in TPE with a raised edge: $179.99 for liners only, $399.99 for the set with frunk, under-storage and cargo liner.

The listing describes a high-edge, anti-skid TPE design that is washable and stays flexible in cold. Two options matter: "Floor Liners Only" at $179.99 or the full set at $399.99. Our earlier look at liner bundle pricing covers the OEM comparison.

The center screen is where you touch the car all day. The listing is for 2017-2023 Model 3 and Model Y and is priced at $27.99. If your car is newer, check the screen size before ordering; this listing does not claim fitment past 2023.

3. A magnetic phone mount that lives behind the screen

Cradle-free, held by magnets in landscape view, attached to the back of the monitor with adhesive. It is $39.99. The two plates in the box are non-magnetic, for devices that need them.

4. A center console organizer

It is a hard ABS insert, and at $26.99 it is the cheapest item on this list. We also stock a 2017-2020 version at $18.99 for earlier cars.

What this means for owners

The headline is the Model Y's lead, not the accessories. But if you own one of those 262,491, the floor and the screen take the most abuse, so start there. Winter is close; our first-freeze Q&A has the rest of the list.
