If you ordered Tesla's six-seat Model Y L expecting a fall delivery, the calendar just moved again. Drive Tesla and TeslaNorth both attribute the change to a post on X by Sawyer Merritt on October 18.

What TeslaNorth checked itself
TeslaNorth reports that it opened Tesla's U.S. configurator for the Model Y L Premium All-Wheel Drive Launch Series and saw January to March 2027 for ZIP codes in Seattle, Los Angeles and New York, with a $250 order fee. It did not see the February to April dates itself. The Launch Series includes 12 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and 12 months of free Supercharging, per TeslaNorth.
Why? Nobody has said
TeslaNorth writes that it has seen no reason from Tesla. Not a Tesla App suggests supply or production limits but labels that unconfirmed. Drive Tesla's author argues the slip is "likely due to good news for the company," meaning demand for the six-seat variant alongside supply constraints. That is analysis, not a Tesla statement.
What this means for buyers
An estimate on an order page is not a delivery commitment, and these windows have moved before. Read your own order page rather than a headline, and ask Tesla in writing if a date matters for a trade-in, a lease end or a financing quote. One reader told Not a Tesla App a mid-October delivery had been pushed out three to four months; one early owner quoted by the outlet praised a "smoother and quieter ride" after taking a Launch Series.
What we could not confirm
We could not verify the X post ourselves. Outlets differ on the Model Y L's EPA range: Not a Tesla App says up to 328 miles, while Drive Tesla and TeslaNorth say 332, so we are not quoting one. Drive Tesla also reports there is no official Canadian launch date, with import restrictions on Tesla's China-built cars lasting until at least March 2027.
