Tesla Finally Gave the Model Y L Its Own Accessory Catalog — Here's What Actually Fits It Today
Tesla's parts store just grew a category it didn't have a week ago. Between September 16 and 17, Tesla quietly launched a dedicated accessory lineup for the Model Y L — the six-seat, long-wheelbase Model Y that's been landing in US driveways since its Launch Series debuted this summer — with real prices attached instead of a placeholder "coming soon" page.
We went through our own catalog against Tesla's new list, model by model, part by part. Some of it we already carry for the Model Y L, in stock, today. Some of it is real but backordered. And in at least one case, the honest answer is: neither of us has it yet.
What Tesla Actually Launched
Per Not a Tesla App and Drive Tesla Canada, both reporting within a day of each other, Tesla's new Model Y L accessory page includes an interior liner set (all-weather interior liners at $260, a rear trunk-and-seatback liner at $220, a front trunk liner at $80, and a rear well liner at $65), three sunshades (front windshield at $80, glass roof at $105, rear liftgate at $70), rear door sill guards at $95, moulded trunk storage bins at $80, a parcel shelf at $125, a roof rack rated for 165 lbs at $500, and an outdoor car cover at $195. Both outlets also note that a handful of items cross over unchanged from the regular Model Y — frunk bins, front console organizers, ambient lighting, illuminated door sill projectors, lumbar pillows, and the V2L power adapter — because the front of the Model Y L is the same Juniper-generation car underneath the stretched rear end.
Notably absent from the US page, per both reports: privacy curtains for the side windows and an inflatable air mattress, both of which are already sold in China. Tesla built them. It just hasn't shipped them here yet.
1. In Stock Today: Real Dry Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel Trim
Tesla's own accessory page doesn't touch the steering wheel at all. We do. This is real dry carbon fiber — not the carbon-look ABS you'll see on cheaper trim kits — and because the Model Y L uses the same steering wheel as the Juniper-generation Model Y and Model 3 Highland, one part fits all four cars without an adapter or a "compatible with" asterisk. It's a straightforward clip-on install, no tools, and it's sitting in our warehouse in all four finishes right now.
2. In Stock Today: The EV Bandit Heated Yoke Steering Wheel
This one's ours. We build a heated yoke steering wheel conversion in matte and glossy carbon fiber, and it's cut for the Model Y L specifically, not adapted after the fact. It's a direct swap for the factory round wheel, heating elements included, and it's made to order — so there's no stock count to quote, but it ships. If you've been waiting for a yoke option that doesn't feel like an aftermarket afterthought on the new long-wheelbase car, this is it.
3. Backordered for the L: Door Side Organizer Tray
Here's a case where the part is real but the timing isn't quite there. This clip-in door tray comes in three fitments: regular Model Y (2021-2025.03), Model Y Juniper, and Model Y L. The first two are sitting in the warehouse in the hundreds of units. The Model Y L cut is the newest of the three and it's currently made-to-order rather than ship-today — we'd rather tell you that up front than have you assume it's identical to the Juniper stock on the shelf next to it.
4. Backordered Across Every Fitment: Frunk Electric Suction Lock
This is a power soft-close kit for the frunk lid: it pulls the lid the last inch shut with a suction latch instead of a slam. It's listed for the Model Y L, Model Y Juniper, standard Model Y, Model 3, Model S, and Model X — and right now, every single one of those fitments is backordered, not just the new car. We're not singling out the Model Y L here; the whole line is between production runs. If you order it, you're ordering ahead, not ordering into a phantom listing.
5. Always Orderable: TESERY Front Windshield Sunshade
Tesla's own launch list includes a $80 front sunshade. Ours is $26.95, made to order per vehicle rather than warehouse-stocked, so there's no unit count to quote — but it ships regardless of when you order it, and the Model Y L cut is a named option at checkout, not a guess.
Where Tesla — and We — Come Up Short
Tesla's own reporters caught the gap first: no privacy curtains for the side windows, and no version of the inflatable air mattress that's already for sale in China. We looked for an honest Model Y L answer to both and didn't find one. Every privacy shade and camping mattress in our own catalog is cut for the standard Model Y cabin or the Juniper cabin, and we're not going to sell you one under a "fits your Model Y L" banner when we haven't confirmed the stretched cargo area changes the fit. If you're camping in a Model Y L this month, that's a real gap, not a marketing one — on Tesla's side and ours.
The Bottom Line
Tesla took a few months to build a real accessory catalog for the Model Y L after launch — quick by Tesla's own standards. Our own coverage is a mixed bag: two parts sitting in stock right now with no wait, two more that are real but currently backordered (one specific to the L, one across every car we sell it for), and one made-to-order item that ships either way. If you own a Model Y L, or one is arriving soon, that's the honest state of the market today — not "everything fits," and not "nothing does."
