- The deposits were A$150 each, taken in November 2019. Electrek reports Tesla will refund payments in full within 30 days.

- Per Electrek, the Cybertruck is built only in left-hand drive, and Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Japan all need right-hand drive.
- Electrek estimates 7,000 to 8,000 Cybertruck sales last quarter. That is Electrek's estimate, not a Tesla figure.
Tesla has told Australian and New Zealand Cybertruck reservation holders it is giving up on the truck there. In emails sent October 23, reported by Electrek and The Driven, Tesla wrote: "After careful consideration, plans to produce Cybertruck for Australia and New Zealand have been discontinued."

What changed
Nothing about the truck. What changed is the map. Per Electrek, the Cybertruck is built only in left-hand drive, and Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Japan all need right-hand drive; Australia also demands its own design-rule certification. Deliveries so far have gone to the U.S., Canada, South Korea (late 2025) and the UAE (January 2026), with configurators in other left-hand-drive Gulf and Middle East markets. The EU remains closed, mainly over pedestrian-safety rules, Electrek says.
On volume, Electrek puts Cybertruck at an estimated 7,000 to 8,000 sales last quarter, inside Tesla's reported 8,295 "Other Models" deliveries. That is Electrek's estimate, not a Tesla figure.
What it means for owners
If you already have a truck, very little. But it sharpens a fact owners know: this is a niche, mostly North American vehicle, and the aftermarket and resale market live in the same few countries. Tesla Canada's trade-in offers were the subject of our earlier checklist; the Dual Motor's price climb is covered here. Either way, a truck that stays clean inside and out is easier to keep and easier to sell.
What to do: three upgrades that earn their keep
1. Bed Mat set, for the part of the truck that is a truck

The listing describes custom-fit TPE with an anti-slip surface, and says the lower mat is designed to work with the factory gear locker divider. It is the cheapest way to stop a tool bag or a muddy boot from scarring the bed.

2. Matte screen protectors for the 18.5-inch and 9.4-inch displays

The listing claims 9H hardness and oleophobic and hydrophobic coatings, with anti-glare on the front film. For a screen that big, glare and fingerprints are the daily complaint.

Bare stainless shows every grab. These stick over the handles; the listing describes durable, wipe-clean ABS. It is a cosmetic fix, nothing more.
