Tesla Canada Is Taking Cybertruck Trade-Ins. One Owner Says the Offer Landed Well Under Auction. Three Cheap Ways to Keep a Truck Sale-Ready

By EV Bandit | Updated October 22, 2026

Key takeaways
  • Tesla Canada has started accepting Cybertrucks as trade-ins, Drive Tesla reported on October 20.
  • One owner's Tesla offer on a Foundation Series truck was C$88,400, against a dealer offer of C$103,000 and a C$104,700 winning bid in a wholesale auction test.
  • The numbers trace to one owner's post on X and a Cybertruck Canada Facebook group member's estimate, as relayed by Drive Tesla. Treat them as owner-reported, not a measured market.
  • Tesla has accepted Cybertruck trade-ins in the U.S. since May 2025, Yahoo adds.

Tesla Canada has started accepting Cybertrucks as trade-ins, and the first offers people are posting look low. Drive Tesla reported on October 20 that one owner's Tesla offer on a Foundation Series truck was C$88,400, against a dealer offer of C$103,000 and a C$104,700 winning bid in a wholesale auction test.

How firm is this? The numbers trace to one owner's post on X dated October 19 and a Cybertruck Canada Facebook group member's estimate, both as relayed by Drive Tesla. Yahoo Autos ran the story on October 21, but credits Drive Tesla for the central claims, so it is not a second original source. Treat the offer figures as owner-reported, not a measured market. We could not open the original posts.
Tesla has never explained why it earlier declined Cybertruck trade-ins in Canada, per Drive Tesla.

What Drive Tesla reports: a 2024 Foundation Series AWD with 38,310 km got a Tesla estimate of C$86,600 in the Facebook group. Dealers, the outlet says, sell similar trucks for C$117,000 to C$119,000. The auction bid came from Open Lane, tested months earlier through a Ford dealership. The author suspects tariff-related price gaps but says it is unclear why current estimates are low. Yahoo adds that Tesla has accepted Cybertruck trade-ins in the U.S. since May 2025.

What this means for owners

If you are a Canadian owner, the advice in the Drive Tesla piece is to shop the truck around before accepting Tesla's number. If you are in the U.S., nothing here changes your trade-in. For everyone, one thing is worth saying plainly: none of the reports says condition moved any of these offers. We do not know how Tesla values a truck. What an owner does control is how the cabin looks when a buyer, dealer or appraiser opens the door. The three items below are cheap, fit the Cybertruck, and come off or stay in as you prefer. They are housekeeping, not a promise of a higher offer.

1. The floor: 3D MAXpider mats

3D MAXpider custom-fit all-weather floor mat set for the Tesla Cybertruck, front and rear rows
3D MAXpider set for front and rear rows: Kagu $281.88, Elitect $305.88. Listed for the 2024-2025 Cybertruck. Elitect adds deeper channels and higher sidewalls, per the listing.

The floor takes slush, salt and spilled coffee. A molded TPE mat catches it, and per the listing it is lightweight and rinses clean. The Elitect version covers rows one and two only. Pull them out before an appraisal and the carpet underneath shows what the truck has been through.

2. The door pockets: a set of four TPE trays

Front and rear door trays, set of 4, $85.00. The listing says they drop into the door storage space with no installation.

Door pockets collect grit, receipts and loose change. These TPE trays sit in the pocket and, per the listing, come out to rinse. It is the least glamorous item on this list and the one you will thank yourself for when you clear the truck out.

3. The console: a carbon-edition organizer tray

Carbon Edition tray: Bottom Organizer $32.99, Top Organizer $49.99, each a separate option. The listing describes rigid PC with a carbon-fiber accent, and says it rinses clean.

The console is where daily clutter lives. The two trays are sold as separate options, so choose the one (or both) you need. This solves a tidiness problem. It does not protect against scratches, and it is a different job from the mats.

The honest tally

Kagu mats, the door trays and the Bottom console tray come to $399.87. Swap in Elitect mats and the Top tray and it is $440.87; Elitect mats with both trays reach $473.86. Prices are in U.S. dollars on our store, while the trade-in figures above are Canadian dollars, so do not compare them directly. Against a reported gap of about C$15,000 between Tesla's offer and the other bids, these are not a cure. They keep a truck presentable, and presentable is the part you control.
