EV Bandit guide to Model 3 and Model Y screen, Power Share, and interior upgrades

Tesla's MY27 Model 3 and Model Y Get a 16-Inch Screen, Power Share and a $5,000 Performance Price Cut — Here's What to Add

Tesla has refreshed the Model 3 and Model Y for the 2027 model year, and the headline is a price cut: in Australia, the Model Y Performance drops $5,000, from A$89,400 to A$84,900 before on-road costs, according to WhichCar's report on the update. The refresh also brings a bigger screen and a new bidirectional charging feature to both cars.

One honest note before the details: every price below is Australian, in AUD. Tesla's US pricing and rollout for MY27 are not covered by these reports, so don't read the $5,000 cut as a US price drop. The feature changes are what matter most to owners everywhere, and that's where our gear comes in.

What actually changed for MY27

Per WhichCar, every Model 3 variant gets a touchscreen that grows from 15.4 to 16 inches, a dark headliner, a new "Zen Grey" interior option and a new 19-inch "Dark Nova" wheel option. The Model 3 Performance AWD's WLTP range climbs from 571 km to 600 km. On the Model Y side, the Premium Long Range AWD now hits 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds (0.5 seconds quicker), and the Model Y L Premium AWD does it in 4.5 seconds (0.3 quicker).

The Model Y Performance also gets a new "Glacier Blue" paint and the Zen Grey interior, and WhichCar reports its production moves from Berlin to Shanghai. Both cars gain "Power Share," which lets the high-voltage battery store, share and export electricity, using a $145 Tesla Outlet Adapter, on MY27 cars and later only. Tech outlet TechAU also covered the Power Share unlock and the A$84,900 Performance price. Orders are open now, with deliveries starting later this month.

Here's what you can add to a Highland-generation Model 3 today, and where we can't help.

1. A bigger screen needs a screen protector that fits

Matte anti-glare screen protector for the 16-inch Tesla Model Y Juniper and Model 3 Highland touchscreen
$49.95 in either 15.4-inch or 16-inch sizes, in matte anti-glare or clear HD.

The 16-inch screen is the big visible change on the Model 3, and a fingerprint-magnet this size deserves protection from day one. This 9H PET film is sold in both 15.4-inch and 16-inch sizes, in matte anti-glare or clear HD, all at $49.95. Straight talk on fitment: the 16-inch cut is sold for the 16-inch Model Y Juniper cars, and we have not confirmed it against the MY27 Model 3 panel, so ask us before you order for a new Model 3.

If you drive a current Model 3 Highland or Model Y Juniper with the 15.4-inch screen, there's no ambiguity: this tempered-glass matte 2-pack is cut for exactly that screen at $49.99.

2. A lighter interior means protecting the carpet

All-Weather Floor Mats (1st & 2nd Row Set) for the Model 3 Highland, $189.99.

Zen Grey is a lighter cabin than the usual black, and lighter carpet shows every muddy shoe. Our all-weather floor mat set covers the first and second rows of the Highland-generation Model 3 for $189.99. It's cut for the 2024 Highland; the MY27 reports mention no floor-pan change, but we haven't measured an MY27 car, so check the fitment note on the listing.

3. Want the sills covered too? Take the 6-piece set

$220 for the Model 3 Highland floor mat and door sill set. Pick the "2024 Model 3 Highland" option; the same listing also carries Model Y cuts.

This waterproof TPE set adds door sill protection to the floor mats for $220, about $30 more than the mats alone. It's the one to pick if you climb in and out with muddy boots or load gear over the sills. Choose the "2024 Model 3 Highland" option, since the listing also sells Model Y variants.

What we don't stock yet

Power Share: the $145 Tesla Outlet Adapter is Tesla's own accessory, and we don't carry it. It's also reported for MY27 cars and later only, so older Teslas won't get the feature from an adapter. Dark Nova 19-inch wheels: we have no matching wheel or wheel-cover product for them yet. We'd rather say so than point you at something that doesn't fit.

The bottom line

The MY27 updates are mostly quality-of-life: a bigger screen, a lighter cabin option, quicker acceleration on two Model Y trims, and Power Share for the new cars. The $5,000 Performance cut is real news in Australia, but it's a market-specific price, not a US one. If you're already in a Highland-generation Model 3 or Juniper Model Y, the screen protector and floor mats above are the easy, fully in-stock upgrades.

Talking MY27 with other owners? The 170,000-member Tesla Model Y Owners Facebook group is already chewing on it.
