EV Bandit guide to cabin air filters that fit Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X

Tesla Just Raised Its Cabin Air Filter Price to $95 — Here's What Actually Fits Every Tesla for Less

Tesla quietly bumped the price of its Model Y HEPA + Carbon Filter Kit from $90 to $95 this month, according to Not a Tesla App's rundown of shop changes — and we checked ourselves: Tesla's own shop lists the kit at $95 right now. It's a five-dollar line item, easy to miss until the "replace every 3 years" reminder pops up on your center screen and you're staring at a checkout page for a part that just got a little more expensive.

The filter itself hasn't changed. What you're paying for is still two HEPA filters and two activated-carbon filters, and it still only fits Model Y vehicles with an existing HEPA housing installed. So before you click through, here's what actually fits your Tesla's cabin filter housing — priced individually, per vehicle, and verified in stock today.

1. Model 3 & Y: The Direct HEPA + Carbon Swap That Undercuts Tesla by $18

HEPA air filter with activated carbon for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, 2016-2026
$76.99, fits both Model 3 and Model Y (2016-2026) — the same HEPA-plus-carbon spec as Tesla's kit, about 19% less. Only 3 left in stock as of this check.

This is the closest apples-to-apples match to what just got more expensive: two-stage HEPA and activated-carbon filtration, same combo Tesla sells, sized for the Model 3/Y shared housing. At $76.99 it's $18 cheaper than Tesla's new $95 price — not a dramatic gap, but a real one, and it covers both cars instead of just the Y.

2. On a Tighter Budget: Skip HEPA Entirely for $31.99

Standard replacement cabin air filter for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y
$31.99, fits Model 3 & Y — a standard replacement filter, not a HEPA-plus-carbon combo. 7 in stock.

To be clear, this isn't the same product as #1 — it's a basic cabin filter without the activated-carbon odor layer, not a drop-in match for Tesla's HEPA kit. If all you need is airflow and dust filtration between cabin air filter changes, and you don't care about the carbon stage, this is the cheaper way to get there. If you want the full HEPA-plus-carbon spec, go with #1 instead.

3. Original Model S (2012-2015): The Filter for the First Cabin Air System

Cabin air filter with activated carbon for 2012-2015 Tesla Model S
$25.99, fits the original 2012-2015 Model S cabin air system. 9 in stock.

Tesla's price move this month was specific to the Model Y kit, but the earliest Model S cars run an entirely different cabin air system from anything currently in Tesla's shop rundown. If you're driving one of the originals, this is the filter sized for that housing — activated carbon included, at a price that was never in the same conversation as $95 to begin with.

4. Model X (2016-2023): HEPA Filtration for the Falcon-Wing SUV

$68.99, fits Model X 2016-2023 — HEPA filtration with activated carbon. 8 in stock.

Model X wasn't part of this month's price change either, but its filter housing takes its own HEPA-plus-carbon cartridge, and it's worth having on your radar before your car's maintenance reminder catches you at Tesla's checkout instead.

The bigger pattern

None of these price bumps happen in isolation — Tesla's shop has quietly raised prices on floor liner bundles, Wall Connectors, and now cabin filters within the same few weeks. The filters themselves haven't changed. What you're paying for is convenience, and convenience is getting more expensive one line item at a time. Cross-reference your VIN's build year against the fitment above before you order, and if you're not sure which housing your car uses, the 170,000-member Tesla Model Y Owners Facebook group is a fast way to get a second set of eyes on it.
