REQUIRES AN EXISTING STEALTH HITCH

This is an upgrade kit, not a hitch. It adds towing capability to a Stealth SHR09004 hidden hitch already installed on your 2026+ Tesla Model Y. Don't have the hitch yet? Order the Tow + Rack Combo instead and save a step.

Turn Your Model Y Rack Hitch Into a Full Towing Setup

Already running a Stealth hidden hitch for bike racks? The SHT25077 Towing Conversion Kit adds everything you need to tow up to 3,500 lbs with your 2026+ Tesla Model Y (Juniper) — wiring harness, “zero play” ball mount, 2" ball, safety chain anchors, and hardware. No new hitch. No reconstruction. No cutting into your Tesla's wiring.

Swap between modes in seconds: unlatch the rack receiver, drop in the ball mount, and you're towing. Pull both out and your Model Y looks completely factory again.

Tow up to 3,500 lbs / 350 lbs tongue weight

“Zero play” ball mount — no rattle, no slop at speed

How The Wiring Harness Works

We'd rather you know exactly what you're buying, so here's the straight answer on the electronics.

The Stealth harness is a passive system. It reads the signals coming off the wires feeding your Model Y's rear lights and mirrors them to the trailer — brake, turn, running lights. It draws the power it needs from the 12V socket in the trunk, not from the vehicle's electrical architecture.

Because it's passive, it does not communicate with the vehicle. That means it will not enable Tesla's built-in Trailer Mode or trigger any towing-related software features on the touchscreen. Only Tesla's own factory tow package harness can do that.

What this means in practice: your trailer lights work correctly and legally. Your Model Y's dash won't display trailer-specific readouts, and stability features tied to Trailer Mode won't activate. For most owners hauling a small utility trailer, teardrop camper, or jet ski, this is a non-issue — but if factory Trailer Mode integration is a requirement for you, contact us before ordering.

Common Questions

Do I need a hitch already installed?

Yes. This kit converts an existing Stealth SHR09004 rack package into a full towing setup. If you don't have a Stealth hitch on your Model Y yet, buy the Tow + Rack Combo instead — it includes both.

How much can a 2026 Model Y tow with this kit?

Up to 3,500 lbs gross trailer weight with 350 lbs tongue weight. Always stay within both the hitch rating and Tesla's own vehicle towing limits.

Will this enable Tesla Trailer Mode?

No. The harness is passive and doesn't communicate with the vehicle, so Trailer Mode will not activate. Trailer lights function normally. Only Tesla's factory tow package harness enables Trailer Mode.

Does installation require cutting or splicing Tesla wiring?

No. The harness plugs in and reads signals without splicing. The latch block does need to be remounted using the longer included bolts, which capture the safety chain anchors.

Can I still use my bike rack after installing this?

Yes — that's the point. Both the rack receiver and the ball mount attach to the same latch block. Unlatch one, drop in the other. Takes seconds and needs no tools.

Which kit fits my Model Y year?

2026+ (Juniper): SHT25077 — this kit, with hitch SHR09004

2023–2024: SHT25069, with hitch SHR09002

2020–2022: SHT25065, with hitch SHR09002

Does it work with trailer brakes?

The 4-way connector handles lights only. For a trailer with electric brakes you'll need a trailer-mounted brake controller — contact us and we'll point you to the right one.

Installation

No reconstruction of the existing hitch is required. The latch block is remounted with longer bolts to capture the safety chain anchors, and the harness plugs in behind the rear trim. Most installs are straightforward for an experienced shop.
