Tesla 2026.32.3 wheel selection menu guide showing Gemini with and without aero covers and Juniper Crossflow no-cover fitment

Tesla's New Wheel Menu Knows Your Aero Covers Are Off — Here's What Fits Instead

Tesla spent years letting you tell the car which wheels it was wearing through a plain-text dropdown buried three taps deep, and almost nobody ever touched it. Update 2026.32.3 replaces that dropdown with a full-colour grid — every factory wheel shown twice, once bare and once with the aero covers fitted, plus a card that just says No Cover.

It looks like cosmetic housekeeping. It isn't. The car uses whatever you pick there to work out the range figure it shows you in the Energy app. If you pulled your aero covers off two summers ago and never went back into that menu, your Tesla has been projecting range for a car it thinks still has them on.

The thirty-second fix: Controls → Service → Wheel & Tire. Pick the card that matches what is actually bolted to your car right now, covers included or not. That's it. The Energy app estimate corrects itself from there.

What Tesla is actually offering in the new menu

Not a Tesla App documented the redesigned screen when 2026.32.3 started shipping on 9 September — a visual grid instead of a dropdown, with 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 shown beside its own No Cover card. The update reached roughly 10% of the fleet by 12 September.

The Model Y configuration list, as reported by @TeslaNewswire on 10 September, looks like this:

Size Wheel Aero cover option
18-inch Aperture With / Without
19-inch Gemini With / Without
19-inch Gemini Dark With / Without
19-inch Crossflow

Read that last row twice if you own a 2025-or-later Model Y. Crossflow has no aero-cover variant. There is no cover to toggle, because there is no factory cover. We'll come back to what that means for Juniper owners, because the honest answer is not "buy a cover."

About the range claim — and what we're not going to pretend

Covered wheels are more aerodynamic than open spokes. That part is not controversial, and it's why Tesla ships covers on its efficiency-oriented wheels in the first place. InsideEVs ran a 70-mph on-and-off test on a Model Y Long Range years ago, and plenty of owners have repeated it since.

What we won't do is hand you a number. Published tests land in the low single digits of percent on the highway and they don't agree with each other, and every aftermarket cover listing on the internet quotes whichever figure flatters it most. Treat the efficiency gain as real but modest. If you're buying covers, buy them because you want the car to look a particular way and you'd like the small aero benefit thrown in — not because a blog promised you twenty miles.

The part you can bank on is narrower and more useful: the number on your screen now depends on the card you picked. Pick the wrong one and your range estimate is wrong in a direction you can't see.

1. Model Y 19″ Gemini — the set most people are actually replacing

TESERY Thunder aero wheel covers fitted to a Tesla Model Y 19-inch Gemini wheel
TESERY Thunder, $209.00 for the Model Y 19″ Gemini cut. Fitment is stated as 2020–2025.03 — pre-Juniper Model Y only.

The factory Gemini cover is grey plastic that scuffs the first time you meet a kerb, and Tesla charges real money to replace one. This is the direct swap: a four-piece set that clips to the same wheel, in a finish that doesn't look like a warranty part.

TESERY Thunder 18″ 19″ Wheel Covers$209.00 for the Model Y 19″ Gemini (2020–2025.03) cut, in matte black or gun grey. The same listing carries a Model 3 18″ Aero cut at $199.00, also matte black or gun grey.

Note the year range. It stops at March 2025 — the Juniper changeover. If your Model Y is newer than that, this is not your part.

2. The same job for twenty dollars less

TESERY four-piece wheel cover set for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y wheels
$189.00 on the Model Y 19″ Gemini cut. The 20″ Induction cut on the same listing is $219.00 — a different wheel, priced differently.

If you want covers back on and don't care about a distinctive pattern, this is the cheaper route to the same aerodynamic outcome.

TESERY 18″ 19″ 20″ Wheel Covers (4PCS)$189.00 for Model Y 19″ Gemini (2020–2024). Pick the cut deliberately: the listing spans three wheels at three prices, and the Model 3 18″ Aero cut is also $189.00.

3. Model Y 19″ Gemini, when you don't want it to read as stock

TESERY Unlimited Style 19-inch wheel cover on a Tesla Model Y Gemini wheel
$199.00. Three two-tone finishes, all on the Model Y 19″ Gemini (2020–2025.03) fitment.

A full-face design rather than a copy of the factory shape. This is the set to look at if the reason your covers came off in the first place was that you didn't like them.

TESERY 19″ Wheel Cover Unlimited Style$199.00. Bright black with silver grey, with a white edge and white stripe, or with a black edge and grey stripe.

4. Model Y 20″ Induction — a different wheel entirely

TESERY 20-inch wheel cover for Tesla Model Y Induction wheels in matte black
$205.00, in matte black or gun ash. Model Y 20″ Induction, 2020–2025.03.

Gemini covers do not fit Induction wheels. Different diameter, different spoke geometry, different part. If you bought the 20-inch option, this is your listing and the other three sections above are not.

TESERY 20″ Wheel Cover for Model Y (4PCS)$205.00, in matte black or gun ash.

5. Model 3 18″ Aero — the Plaid-style cap

TESERY 18-inch S Plaid style wheel caps fitted to a Tesla Model 3 Aero wheel
$179.00 in matte black, with 58 sets on hand. Gun gray is $179.99. Model 3 18″ Aero wheels, 2019–2023.10.

The 18-inch Aero is the wheel that gave the covers their name, and the factory item is the one owners dislike most. This borrows the Model S Plaid turbine look and bolts it to the same hub.

TESERY 18″ Wheel Caps S Plaid Style$179.00 matte black (58 in stock), $179.99 gun gray, glossy black also listed. Fitment is Model 3 18″ Aero, 2019 to October 2023 — pre-Highland.

6. Where the factory covers live once they're off

Padded aero wheel cover storage carrying bag for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y covers
$65.99, 10 on hand. Holds a set of four Model 3 or Model Y aero covers.

Unglamorous, and the single most useful thing in this list if you swap seasonally. Four loose covers rattling around a frunk get scratched, and scratched factory covers are worth nothing when you sell the car. A padded bag is cheaper than one replacement cover from Tesla.

Aero Wheel Cover Storage Carrying Bag$65.99, Model 3 and Model Y.

7. Center caps: the cheapest thing that reads as new

Matte black wheel hub center caps, set of four, for Tesla Model 3 Highland
$39.99 for four, 10 sets on hand. Model 3 Highland, 2024.

If your wheels are fine but the center caps are faded or chipped, this is a forty-dollar fix that changes how the whole corner of the car looks. Highland owners in particular: the factory cap picks up brake dust and never fully cleans.

Model 3 Highland Wheel Hub Caps, Matte Black, Set of 4$39.99.

Cybertruck owners get the cheapest entry on this page. Wheel Center Hub Caps for Cybertruck (4 PCS)$26.99, hexagonal (91 sets on hand) or gear pattern.

8. The $14.99 repair and the $69 indulgence

Wheel paint refinish pen for Tesla wheels in satin black and grey shades
From $14.99 in satin black; the grey and silver shades are $15.99. Matched to Tesla factory wheel finishes.

Before you spend $200 on covers, look properly at what's underneath. A lot of wheels that "need replacing" need a pen and ten minutes.

Wheel Paint Refinish Pen$14.99 satin black, $15.99 for gun grey, deep gun grey, dark graphite grey, medium metallic grey, bright metallic silver or metallic silver.

LED illuminated wheel hub light caps for Tesla Model 3, Y, S and X
$69.00 for four, 56 mm. Listed as not fitting Performance wheels — check your hub before ordering.

And then there's the other kind of purchase. Floating illuminated center caps, in blue, white, red or colour-cycling. Nobody needs these. They are also the single most commented-on thing you can put on a Tesla in a car park.

LED Wheel Hub Light Caps$69.00. Read the fitment: the listing states these do not fit Performance wheels.

9. Juniper owners: the menu is telling you something

Waido x EV Bandit 21-inch fully forged wheels fitted to a 2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper
Waido x EV Bandit 21″ fully forged, $8,500 the set of four. Ten sets per finish. 2025–2026+ Model Y Juniper.

Back to that blank cell in the table. The 19-inch Crossflow has no aero-cover option in the new menu because it has no factory cover — the wheel is the finished article. Which means there is nothing for a Juniper owner to toggle, and nothing on this page above section 9 that fits your car.

We'll say the awkward part plainly: we don't stock a Crossflow cover, and you shouldn't buy a Gemini set hoping. Every cover listed above stops at March 2025. If you want your Juniper's wheels to look different, the honest route is the wheel itself, not a cap over it.

Waido x EV Bandit 21″ Fully Forged Wheels$8,500.00 for a set of four, in ten finishes including cool, glossy black, matte black, gun gray and black and silver. Add $400 for the finish package recommended alongside the widebody kit. Ten sets per finish.

That is a genuinely large number next to a $189 cover set, and we're not going to dress it up as an alternative to one. It's a different decision. But it is the decision the new menu quietly points Juniper owners toward, and going 21-inch will cost you more range than any cover was ever going to save — so set the menu honestly afterwards.

Do the free thing first

Everything above is optional. The setting is not. Go to Controls → Service → Wheel & Tire, find the card that matches the wheels currently on your car, and tap it. If you're on 2026.32.3 you'll get the new grid; if you're not yet, the old dropdown does the same job with worse graphics.

Then watch your Energy app for a week. If the projection has been optimistic for two years, that's why.
