Enhance Your Driving Experience with Tesla's Latest Software Update: Introducing Adaptive High Beams and One-Time Charge Limit Feature

Tesla has started rolling out its software update, which includes a feature that limits charging to just once and expands support, for adaptive high beams in certain areas.

The software update 2024.8 is currently being pushed to Tesla cars bringing with it the one time charge function. Additionally users in Europe will now enjoy improved beam capabilities on updated Model S, Model X, Model Y and older Model 3 models.

The release notes for version 2024.8 have been shared publicly unveiling these additions (via Not a Tesla App).

Although the enhanced high beams are initially available in Europe Tesla is actively working on extending this feature to the U.S. Lars Moravy, Teslas Head of Vehicle Engineering has hinted at the rollout of this feature and promised further enhancements across various regions.

The adaptive high beams operate intelligently by detecting road users such as drivers and cyclists to adjust the beams and reduce glare. Furthermore the release notes mention that the high beams will be frequently active to improve visibility at night while considering factors.

Tesla drivers can easily enable this new headlight feature through the Lights menu, under Adaptive High Beams settings. Moreover, owners will be able to set a one-time charge limit that is above the one set for everyday driving. It can be helpful when going on a road trip and needing full battery capacity. Instead of remembering to revert to a lower limit afterward, the vehicle will revert automatically after the initial full charge.

The adaptive headlights feature was initially introduced with the upgraded Model 3 in Europe and other markets last year, subsequently extending to North America in January.
