Tesla's Halloween Mode Is Here. Dress the Doorway to Match: A Trick-or-Treat Timeline
By EV Bandit | Updated October 7, 2026
Tesla’s Halloween Mode arrived with software 2026.38.3 on October 6, according to Drive Tesla. Per that report, it adds a ghost avatar for your car, a “Trick or Treat” function that plays eerie sounds and flickers lights when visitors approach, a light show, a custom lock sound and a Photobooth.
The tease came a week earlier. Teslarati and Not a Tesla App both covered the clip Tesla posted on X with the caption “Halloween is coming.” Drive Tesla says full 3D scenes need AMD Ryzen hardware; Intel cars get the core features without them.

The software dresses the screen. The rest of the car is up to you. Here is a trick-or-treat night timeline, from the week before to the porch light.
1. One week out: the doorway

Candy-bowl season means a lot of shoes on the sills. These protectors are lit by battery and, per the listing, only glow when the door is open. The listing title says Model Y 2020-2023 while the variant list includes Model 3, so confirm fitment on the page before ordering.
Shop the Illuminated Door Sills

If you want protection without the lights, this one costs $32.99 for the Model 3 gloss or matte cuts. It is a different job from the LED set: scratch cover only, no glow.
2. Dusk: light the ground, not just the screen

These replace the stock door lights and, per the listing, switch on when the door opens and throw a logo onto the ground. They project a Tesla launch-series logo, not a Halloween graphic. Fitment on this listing is Model Y Juniper 2025+ and Model 3 Highland 2024+.
3. Midnight: protect the Model Y carbon look

This is the pricier, more permanent option for a 5-seat Model Y. The listing is explicit that it does not fit the 7-seater.
What this means for owners
Update, then check your screen: Drive Tesla notes the 3D scene is Ryzen-only. If you are still on the previous build, our 2026.38 visuals guide explains how to protect the glass the new scenes play on.
